How did you get into running?

I first began running in 2006 with American Heart Association’s marathon training program. After completing my first full marathon, I decided to stick with the sport because it keeps my heart healthy and I enjoy the camaraderie of running with others. I continue to train on a regular basis and have finished 8 half marathons over the last 6 years.

What inspired you to volunteer as a pacer?

I was inspired to become a pacer because I enjoy encouraging others to become active. Since I run intervals, I often get the chance to introduce the sport to people who are just beginning. Intervals allow them to give it a try without a lot of pressure. Being a runner doesn’t have to mean going fast or long distances…it means going at a pace that’s comfortable for you, staying active and healthy, and having fun with friends!
